The goals of the Farmer Equity Project at the Chester Agricultural Center are as follows:
- Promote greater awareness among all stakeholders of farm employee rights, and the challenges and opportunities present in the current farm labor economy.
- Foster transparency and open dialogue among farmers about the economic and logistical realities that affect farm labor practices.
- Create a space for farmers, farm employees and social investors to work together to define new relationships and identify common ground.
- Explore economic structures that can help create the conditions for a more equitable food system: cooperatives, employee stock ownership plans, farmer-farm employee-customer associations, etc.
